Porter Construction has begun work on the Fitzgerald parking garage in Gaithersburg, Maryland
The Dealership with an Energy Saving Twist!
Porter Construction is pleased to announce that they have started construction of a Design/Build project for the new Fitzgerald Lakeforest Hyundai Subaru Toyota of Gaithersburg. The five story, concrete precast building/parking garage will bring allow Fitzgerald’s service and body shops along with their inventory of new and used cars to be in one location. Up to this point the dealership’s cars have been housed at multiple leased lots. In order to accommodate visitor flow to the planned 800 parking spaces, the building will have two elevators.
But it’s what you don’t see from the ground that adds to the excitement of this project: That metal roof which protects inventory and customer service vehicles from the weather will serve as a platform for 2,475 solar panels. The panels will provide 891KW of green electric energy, which is enough to power about 85% of the dealer’s power needs for their entire campus just off Fitzgerald Avenue. Porter Construction is partnering with Aurora Energy of Columbia who will handle the solar power installation. The 275,385 square foot garage, which will save the dealership both in terms of energy and leased parking spaces, will be completed in early 2019.
